The super rich: One law for them...
You know things are getting desperate when the world’s rulers have to turn to hunting down tax havens in their search for cash.
For years the global rich have been happily squirrelling away trillions of dollars in places like Switzerland and the Cayman Islands.
And for years debt campaigners have been calling for these tax havens to open their books, only to be told that it was “outside the jurisdiction of national governments”.
Now that the banking system is up the creek, and ordinary people have been squeezed dry, these leaders have “rediscovered” this wealth.
But the rich need not worry. None of this money will end up in the pockets of the world’s poor. It will instead be used to prop up the system that provided them with such wealth in the first place.
