Italian voters have dealt another resounding blow to prime minister Silvio Berlusconi.
People voted overwhelmingly against the government in a referendum on nuclear power, privatisation of water and the immunity of politicians from legal proceedings.
There will be no nuclear power or water privatisation in Italy and now, at least formally, Berlusconi no longer stands above the law.
People flooded into the streets to celebrate after the results were announced.
