Photographers are fighting police demands that they hand over their footage of an eviction at the Dale Farm Traveller site in October last year.
Essex police are taking several media workers to court to insist that they comply. The National Union of Journalists (NUJ) backs the defendants.
NUJ general secretary Michelle Stanistreet said media workers “should never be seen as collectors of information for the state.”
