Alfie Meadows, Vishnu Wood, Jack Locke, Zac King and Colin Goff are accused of committing violent disorder on 9 December 2010.
Their trial started at Kingston Crown court on Monday.
Michael Mansfield QC, who is representing Alfie, requested that the defence were given time to review police notebooks from the day, which they only received that morning.
Judge Dodgson granted the time. The prosecution opened the case on Tuesday.
The trial is expected to last for three weeks.
