The Unite union organised a protest today, Friday, outside the Turkish embassy in solidarity with Turkish Airlines workers who have been banned from striking.
Demonstrators held 305 balloons to symbolise 305 Turkish Airlines workers who were summarily sacked for protesting against the strike ban.
The Unite members and activists were joined by representatives from the International Transport Workers’ Federation and the Turkish community in London.
Rhys McCarthy, Unite’s regional officer for civil aviation, called on the Turkish government to scraps the strike ban and reinstate the sacked workers immediately.
