The police shooting of Mark Duggan in Tottenham sparked riots on 4 August 2011 when local people went to the police station to demand answers.

The police were forced to apologise to Mark’s family in February this year for failing to inform them of his death. The family found out through a neighbour.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) at first repeated police claims that Mark had shot at police first.

This was false. The gun Mark was supposedly carrying in the back of his car was found meters away from the scene with no traces of Mark on it.

Police officers have refused to be interviewed by IPCC investigators. There is now a threat that the entire inquest will be held in secret.

And last month the coroner in the case gave the IPCC 28 days to hand over witness statements. The IPCC has now allowed the coroner to view some evidence in its office.

There will continue to be a fight every step of the way to dicover the truth about how Mark Duggan died.
