Steelworkers in Greece have ended their nine-month long strike against job cuts at the Hellenic Halyvourgia plant in the west of Athens.
The strike became a symbol of resistance in Greece. The state has viciously attacked it. A court granted an order deeming the strike illegal weeks ago.
The police then attacked and arrested pickets to“enforce” the order. Last week the police attacked pickets again, trying to open the gates of the plant.
A workers’ meeting last Saturday voted to return to work on the basis that police leave the site.
