Practical Electronica

26 August, 7.45pm, Glasgow Film Theatre, £7/£5.50

Practical Electronica is a documentary from the self-taught multimedia artist Ian Helliwell. It looks at Fred Judd’s contribution to electronics and “musique concrète”—music made up of everyday sounds—during the 1950s and 60s.

Helliwell explores Judd’s work as a musician, inventor, engineer, designer and author. The film focuses on his experimental sound as filling in a lost chapter in early electronic music history.
