Some 150 people demonstrated against pay cuts last week outside Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. Medical secretaries dressed in black to mourn the proposed death of their jobs.
The Unison union has pledged to fight the proposals. It says the plans unfairly target low paid female members of staff who could lose thousands of pounds a year. Unison has said it will ballot for strikes if the hospital trust doesn’t withdraw its plans.
