Gary Dobson and David Norris—who were jailed for life earlier this year for the 1993 murder of black teenager Stephen Lawrence—have lost their first attempt to overturn their convictions.
The two racist thugs had applied for permission to appeal. But this application has now been thrown out by a single judge, according to a spokesperson for the Judicial Office.
Dobson and Norris could still apply again to judges sitting at the appeal court. But today’s decision is a setback in their attempt to escape punishment for their actions.
The pair were found guilty of Stephen’s murder by a jury at Southwark Crown Court in January. But other members of their gang—and the corrupt cops who let them walk free for so many years—still need to be brought to justice.
