Tory hypocrites made a strident defence of the unborn in the run-up to their annual conference. Health secretary Jeremy Hunt and women’s secretary Maria Miller both said the time limit for abortion should be cut in half.
They justify this attack on a woman’s right to control her own body by saying they value human life. But Tory concern for foetuses ends as soon as they are born.
Under a new plan from millionaire chancellor George Osborne you will be penalised for having “too many” children if you’re unemployed. He said, “When you are on benefits you automatically get extra money when you have a child, so you can be better off.”
The Tories claim that working class people are “irresponsible” if they have children they “can’t afford”. But it’s the Tories who are forcing more people into poverty.
It’s the Tories and the bosses who are driving up unemployment. And it’s the irresponsible rich who created the crisis in the first place.
The Tories’ bile sums up their view of how the world should work. If you’re rich, you can live your life however you please. But if you’re poor they make the rules.
This has nothing to do with concern for children and everything to do with controlling working class people. It’s one more reason to march on 20 October—and build a movement that can kick this rabble out.
