A street protest was held in Birmingham last Saturday against the rising tide of Islamophobic attacks on Muslims.

The importance of defending multiculturalism was shown as graffiti saying “Islam Must Die” alongside swastikas appeared at the University of Birmingham.

Islamophobic graffiti was also daubed on the Jalalabad mosque in nearby Selly Oak.

“Terrorism expert” Steven Emerson had appeared on Fox News last week claiming that, “In Britain, it’s not just ‘no go’ zones.

“There are actual cities like Birmingham that are totally Muslim.”

The street rally was organised by the Socialist Workers Party. It called on people to say “No” to the racist backlash following the Paris shootings and ‘No’ to Fox News lies about the multicultural city.

Both Muslims and non-Muslims were keen to be photographed with banners that said Fox News Racist Liars.
