Left gains on Labour Party NEC
Members of the Labour Party have elected Walter Wolfgang, the pensioner thrown out of last year’s party conference for heckling Jack Straw, to the National Executive Committee (NEC).
Three other left wingers, Ann Black, Christine Shawcroft and Peter Willsman were elected.
Labour leadership contender, John McDonnell MP told Socialist Worker, “This vote shows we have got rank and file support for left candidates, and it bodes well for the leadership election.
“This vote involved the constituency parties, but we’ve seen similar feeling in the trade union section as well. In recent elections it’s the left that have been winning. People have had enough and are fighting back.”
