Fortnight of action demanding union rights for ISS cleaners gets under way

Issue No. 2028

“No union, no peace,” was the chant from cleaners and other campaigners demonstrating outside Goldman Sachs investment bank on Tuesday of this week.

The protest was part of the second day in a fortnight of action organised by the T&G union as part of their Justice for Cleaners campaign to win union recognition for cleaners across the City of London.

The union is targeting ISS – one of the world’s largest cleaning companies. ISS is part owned by Goldman Sachs, and has contracts with many financial institutions, universities and department stores.

The union is highlighting the gap between the multimillion profits of many of the firms that use ISS and the low wages and poor conditions faced by the cleaners.
