Health campaign

UP TO 100 people joined an angry Mother's Day protest in Glasgow last Sunday against plans by the Greater Glasgow Health Board to close the Queen Mother's Maternity Unit at Yorkhill.

The hospital is linked to the Sick Children's Hospital on the same site. Both are essential to the provision of quality maternity and children's services.

The rally was addressed by MSPs from the Labour Party (Pauline McNeil), SNP (Sandra White), SSP (Carolyn Leckie), midwives, consultants, and families who have used the hospital. Protesters vowed to continue the fight, calling another demonstration on 20 April.
