Privatisation of Hillingdon Hospital Accident & Emergency

by Hillingdon Hospital nurses
Issue No. 2031

Hillingdon Hospital's Accident & Emergency department is being privatised without the knowledge of local people.

The local primary care trust (PCT) faces a £60 million deficit. It is under severe pressure to deliver, and desperation is driving it into making the wrong decisions.

The hospital trust has been bullied by the government to allow a new private company called Harmoni to take over frontline A&E services.

The hospital trust has kept the nurses in dark without giving much information, due to the fear of industrial action. We believe the PCT has not gone through the proper route of tendering either. Job cuts are expected among hospital staff.
