Some 17 women employed by Unique Care in Huddersfield were sacked on Thursday of last week after standing up to bullying and the sacking of one of their colleagues.

The care workers, members of Kirklees Unison union’s local government branch, walked out on 8 January after their colleague was sacked following a disciplinary hearing which they say did not follow proper procedures.

The women are determined to fight the sackings and win justice from their voluntary sector employer.
