Looming battles for equal pay in the NHS

Issue No. 2040

The government is facing up to 10,000 claims for equal pay by women workers in the NHS.

During the implementation of the Agenda for Change pay system it became clear that women were less well paid for work under the old system than male staff doing work of equal value.

Health service unions, including Unison, Amicus and the Royal College of Nursing, are now preparing to take claims to employment tribunals.
