First victory for Wembley Park anti-academies campaign

Issue No. 2047

An occupation of the proposed site of an academy on Wembley Park Sports Ground has claimed a victory – the withdrawal of “sponsor” Andrew Rosenfeld.

Hank Roberts, an ATL and NUT teachers’ unions national executive member and local resident, said, “This is a victory for the community occupation.

“Rosenfeld, a tax exile, was an utter embarrassment.

“The desperate Lib Dem council leader has now roped in Ark, a group of hedge fund speculators linked to Goldman Sachs, to try and salvage this proposal.

“We defeated Rosenfeld who had over £100 million and we’ll defeat this lot too, no matter how much money they’ve got.

“The occupied camp is seeking and gaining ever more support.”
