Textile workers' sit-in continues Egyptian strike wave

Textile workers at the Mansoura-España Garments Company in Egypt’s Nile Delta have occupied the plant in protest at unpaid wages and the sale of the company.

The sit in, involving 300 mainly women workers, is part of a wave of strikes that began in Egypt’s textile mills last December.

The latest strikes come as the US backed government of Hosni Mubarak has launched a campaign of intimidation against shop floor union militants.
