SOME 1,100 TGWU union members at Manchester airport have voted to escalate their action against wage and holiday cuts. On Friday 22 March workers will walk out for 36 hours. This will be followed by a 96-hour strike over Easter weekend.

OVER 400 students met on Monday of this week at Bristol University against plans to remove the guaranteed place in accommodation halls for first year students.

MORE THAN 50 people protested outside Dungavel detention centre in Lanarkshire last Sunday.

AROUND 100 staff staged a lively protest outside IT services company ICL's site at West Gorton, Manchester, on Tuesday of last week opposing redundancies.
