Sky Chefs

Issue No. 1670

THE SACKED Lufthansa Sky Chefs workers at Heathrow airport in west London are planning a number of events to mark the anniversary of their dispute. The workers have been fighting for their jobs for one year, after being ruthlessly sacked for taking part in a legal one day strike.

The thousands of TGWU union members across Heathrow airport have the power to win the workers their jobs back, but their leaders are too terrified of the anti-union laws to call such action. Instead the TGWU is concentrating on publicity stunts in Germany and a 'Boycott Lufthansa' campaign. To mark the anniversary a public meeting is planned at Hammersmith Town Hall on Saturday 20 November, at 11am, followed by a mass picket at 1pm.

Messages of support and donations: 14 Myrtle Avenue, Bedfont, Middlesex. Cheques payable to the Lufthansa Sky Chefs Strike Fund. Visit the 24 hour picket line at Faggs Road, Feltham (Hatton Cross tube).
