Monsters, Inc: monster laughs

by Sam Norman
Issue No. 1787

Monsters, Inc is the latest film from the creators of Toy Story and A Bug's Life. It is set in Monstropolis, home to a population of monsters of all shapes and sizes. The Monsters, Inc scream processing unit supplies the town with its power.

Monsters Sulley and Mike work at the power plant. Their job is to creep into children's bedrooms and frighten them into screaming. But there is a problem. The children no longer scream so easily, and Monstropolis is suffering from a severe power crisis. One night, working late, Sulley inadvertently stumbles upon the boss's dastardly plot to boost energy production.

He and Mike are left standing in the way of 'progress'. But never fear-they find an altogether happier solution, and save the day. Monsters, Inc covers a whole range of issues, like the greening of energy. The animation is even better than Toy Story, and a treat in itself. The goodies are the worker monsters and the baddies are the monster bosses. It is a great kids' film.
