Tesco Livingston strike called off

Issue No. 2054

The Unite union called off a strike involving Tesco distribution drivers in Livingston, near Edinburgh, set for Tuesday of this week.

Management have agreed to talks with the union after the threat of action.

This follows a successful three-day strike last month.

Tesco had threatened contract changes that drivers say would leave many up to £6,000 worse off.

Tesco also threatened to derecognise the T&G, which is part of the new Unite union, and demanded that the drivers join the Usdaw shop workers’ union instead.
