Workers at a south coast factory are furious at the company's plans for compulsory redundancies, and also at their AEEU union leaders' pathetic response. BOC Edwards in Shoreham-by-Sea is part of the major BOC company. The factory employs some 700 workers, mostly AEEU members.

BOC Edwards has just announced £90 million profits but wants compulsory redundancies. In all 35 workers face being told they are sacked. The company also wants us to use up one day's holiday from next year so that it can close the factory on Christmas Eve and save money.

Some people wanted to sit in the canteen until the company came and talked.
