Postal workers walk out in Hartlepool

Hartlepool delivery office walked out yesterday after management intimidation of a worker.

The worker concerned took a photograph of a manager trying to saw through the chain that was keeping the gates locked.

The photograph was taken from the public highway and the incident concerned was also on the public highway.

The rest of the office walked out at approx 8am.

Branch union officials negotiated with management with the following result

No action to be taken against the individual regarding the photograph, photographic guidelines to be advised, return to work from today.

Because of the details that management have put onto the return to work the depot have agreed that the job will be done by RM rules. This means no coming in early, weighing bags, taking meal breaks, no use of private cars on delivery.
