Unique Care workers’ lobby

by Nick Ruff
Issue No. 2066

Seventeen women sacked eight months ago by private care provider Unique Care in Huddersfield are continuing their fight for justice. They were sacked after striking to defend their conditions and a sacked colleague.

The women are optimistic of winning after a scrutiny panel found that there are major concerns about the practices and funding of the company.

The local authority, Kirklees council, will commission a number of reports into its future support for the company for the end of October.

To keep up the pressure the women are organising a lobby of the council meeting on 26 September at 5.30pm outside Huddersfield town hall.

Donations for the campaign are urgently needed. Send to Kirklees Unison, 20 Queen Street, Huddersfield.
