Cindy Sheehan, the best known peace activist in the US, held a press conference at the Stop the War Coalition’s office last week.
Sheehan spoke eloquently about her recent trip to Jordan and of the plight of Iraqi refugees.
Asked whether the occupying powers had taken steps to alleviate the suffering of refugees, she compared the tiny amounts spent to the billions given to the military. Cindy Sheehan said, “This is a war crime. It is a crime to create so many refugees and then wash our hands of them.”
She spoke alongside Lindsey German, convenor of the Stop the War Coalition, and Reverend Lennox Yearwood, a former US Air Force chaplain, who travelled with Cindy to Jordan.
