TUC in brief

Issue No. 2069

The TUC also backed a motion calling for a national demonstration in defence of public services.

Bob Crow, the RMT leader, was voted off the TUC’s general council. While wishing his replacement from the Musicians Union well, he said “If conference want a bunch of banjo players rather than strikers then so be it.”

The TUC passed motion calling for a parliamentary inquiry into the persecution of the Shrewsbury pickets. Some 24 pickets were prosecuted in 1972 and were the victims of a miscarriage of justice.
