This new six-part ITV drama series is the latest to put the issues thrown up by the “war on terror” on to the small screen.
The opening episode sees lawyers Ben Graham and Alisha Cole stumble across the kidnapping of an innocent terrorist suspect by shadowy authorities.
They set up an agency to support whistleblowers and expose corruption and conspiracies in high places.
According to the producers, future episodes in the series will deal with issues such as disease pandemics, faith schools and immigration.
The series is created by Tony Marchant, who recently wrote the Iraq war drama The Mark Of Cain for Channel 4. The Whistle Blowers starts this Thursday at 9pm on ITV1.
