Health service round-up

Issue No. 2075

Chichester march

Up to 15,000 people marched in Chichester, West Sussex, on Saturday of last week against the closure of St Richard’s hospital.

A public consultation is currently taking place in the area. This means that one of the county’s three hospitals – in either Chichester, Worthing or Haywards Health – faces downgrading.

Norfolk and Norwich University hospital

A strike by maintenance workers at Norfolk and Norwich University hospital has been suspended after management made a new offer to workers employed by Serco in the estates and works department.

The workers, who are members of the Unite union, will now be balloted as to whether they wish to accept the revised offer.
