Some 150 Unison union members and supporters demonstrated outside East Ham Town Hall in Newham, east London.

The protest was called to coincide with the final day of suspended union chair Michael Gavan’s disciplinary hearing. At the hearing Unison refuted all of management’s claims against Michael.

The council’s chief executive has stated that the earliest he will reach a decision will be on Wednesday of next week.
