Protest in Bourneville over planned Cadbury closures

Some 50 workers from the Cadbury plant in Keynsham, Somerset, travelled to the Bourneville plant in Birmingham on Monday. They protested at plans to close the plant and move the work to Poland. Some 200 jobs are also threatened at Bourneville.

Andy Nicholls, from Keynsham told Socialist Worker, “We’re here to keep Cadbury open in Keynsham. We have come to get the support of the Bourneville workers.” Another protestor from Keynsham said, “We’re pleased that the Polish trade unions don’t want our work. They believe that if the work is moved to Poland a new plant will be built and staffed with non union labour.”
