UCU lecturers’ union members are due to start voting for the national executive in the first week of February. Candidates’ election leaflets are now available and campaign meetings of UCU Left supporters are being organised up and down the country.

UCU Left is supporting: Elizabeth Lawrence and Jeff Fowler for higher education (HE) in the north east; Howard Miles for further education in the north east; Jane Hardy and Amanda Sackur for HE in London; Paul Brown for the disabled members seat; Amanda Sackur for a women’s HE seat; Mark Campbell, Carlo Morelli, Angela Shann and Christine Vie for national HE seats; and Lynne Chamberlain, Keith Mallinson, Dave Swanson and Jim Thakoordin for national further education seats.

Meanwhile the UCU and NUT teachers’ unions are planning a joint campaign over pay. A series of joint pay rallies are being organised.
