Rolls-Royce workers are not rolling over to globalisation

Issue No. 1734

'We will be on the picket lines from 6.30am on Friday. Rolls-Royce will not listen to us. We don't have any choice but to strike.'

They are the words of a worker at Rolls-Royce Ansty in Coventry. The workers are to hold a one-day strike on Friday to save jobs.

They voted by 82 percent for strike action because the aerospace group wants to axe over 1,000 jobs and transfer work to Canada. 'We have had hundreds of messages of support, including from trade unions in Canada who say they will not handle any work transferred from Britain. This is how we've got to fight globalisation.'
