Alder case

Issue No. 1734

The Police Federation has failed in its latest attempt to overturn the Christopher Alder inquest verdict of unlawful killing.

Christopher Alder was killed in Humberside police headquarters on 1 April 1998. The Police Federation went to the High Court to ask for a judicial review of the inquest verdict without informing Christopher's family.

Janet Alder said, 'I'm in shock. Once again it just shows the police's disrespect.' The judge told the police to come back when the family were represented in court.
