My Guardian by Kagan Guner

Issue No. 2087

This new exhibition by the artist Kagan Guner is a political critique of British society.

My Guardian consists of front pages which have been erased and then painted over, in Guner’s intensely personal style.

Guner fled Turkey in the 1980s to come to Britain during the years of Margaret Thatcher’s government. He learned English through reading the Guardian newspaper and was dismayed at the reports of the treatment of women, gays, black people and immigrants in Britain.
