Respect campaigners are stepping up the by-election pace in Preston

Issue No. 2087

Canvassers were out in force last Sunday in Preston, where Respect supporter Barry Hill is standing in the Tulketh ward in the upcoming by-election. The by-election takes place on 14 February.

Respect has almost completed its second full canvass of the ward. The main parties are fighting hard but Respect is hoping to break the 10 percent barrier.

“We’re getting a good response on the doorstep although we’ve never stood there before,” Barry told Socialist Worker. “Last weekend people came from places including Birmingham, Rochdale and London to help with canvassing.”

This weekend Preston Respect is asking supporters to help with one last push.

Campaigners will meet on Saturday and Sunday from 11am and at 2pm at Lakeside Bowling Alley on Greenbank Street – in the heart of the ward.

Directions are available on the Preston Respect website – »
