Unite union backs Love Music Hate Racism carnival

Issue No. 2088

Unite, Britain’s largest trade union, has become the latest union to back the Love Music Hate Racism (LMHR) carnival set to take place on Sunday 27 April in Victoria Park, east London.

The event, which commemorates the seminal Rock Against Racism carnival and march held 30 years ago at the same venue, is designed to mobilise people against the threat posed by the fascist British National Party (BNP) at the May elections.

“Events like these that bring people together are vital to helping suppress the threat we face from racist organisations,” said Unite’s general secretary Derek Simpson.

LMHR supporters should get their trade union branches to back the event – go to » to download a model motion.

The national conference of Unite Against Fascism will take place on 1 March. For details of how to register go to »
