Teachers in the NUT union in Darton High school in Barnsley took part in a one-day strike on Thursday of last week after management decided not to honour an agreement signed with Acas two years ago.
The agreement was reached following a dispute over the restructuring of staff and pay losses, and safeguarded those members who lost management allowances. 93 percent of NUT members had voted in favour of the strike.
The mood on the picket line was very positive and most of the school was closed down.
Strikes also took place at two schools in Camden on Wednesday of last week. For a full report go to » Camden teachers strike over plan to scrap payments
