Socialist Worker

Control DVD

Issue No. 2089

Control is about the life of Ian Curtis, the lead singer of Joy Division, as the band shot to fame in the late 1970s. It chronicles his turbulent relationship with his wife Deborah.

It is brilliantly shot in black and white. This adds to the sense of suffocation as Curtis tries to reconcile his new life as a successful musician with his working class roots in Macclesfield.
