There were two lively protests against Tory MP Ann Widdecombe’s anti-abortion tour last week.

Around 100 protesters gathered in Liverpool on Tuesday of last week. Dave Sewell and Amy Pettitt report, “A large and aggressive police presence was met with defiant chanting.

“Among the most popular slogans was, ‘Pro-life is a lie, you don’t care when women die’.”

Around 60 people gathered outside Coventry Cathedral on Wednesday of last week to demonstrate against the next leg of Widdecombe’s tour.

Lucy Ayrton reports, “Students form Warwick university, Birmingham university and local trade unionists attended. The mood of the protesters was positive”
