Twenty angry local residents demonstrated outside Melbourne Grove Post Office in East Dulwich, south London Wednesday of last week against its planned closure.
About 1,500 signatures have been collected on a petition to keep the post office open. If Royal Mail get away with these closures, people, including pensioners, will have to travel way out of their area to access the service the post office provides. Royal Mail may also see this as an opportunity to shut more post offices.
Around 40 people joined a protest in defence of Crowdale Road post office in Camden, north London on Monday of this week.
Demonstrators were joined by MP Frank Dobson, and a host of other leading Labour Party members. Respect leaflets that argued that the government is responsible for closures went down very well.
