Health round-up

Issue No. 2091

Sheffield Cutlers Hall

Around 40 student nurses, health workers and patients gathered outside Sheffield’s Cutlers Hall on Thursday last week to protest against Virgin Healthcare’s attempt to make profits from the NHS.

Virgin wants to run GP surgeries that will provide private medicine in addition to NHS-employed doctors.

Most of the doctors invited to Virgin’s launch took the leaflets and petitions handed out by the protesters, saying they disagreed with the privatisation of GP services.
