Over 2,000 Chinese workers, employers and their supporters attended the first Chinese organised mass rally in London to protest against recent immigration raids at Chinese catering firms all over Britain.

“We are not snakeheads. We are not immigration officers. We are simply trying to make a living,” said Yip Fai Liu, chair of Chinese Immigration Concern Committee (CICC), which organised the rally.

A worker from Fujian, China, burst into tears as he told the audience, “No jobs, no cash, no roofs above our heads. What do they want to push us into?”

Protesters presented a petition to the home office, along with 1,000 rice bowls to symbolise their livelihoods.
