Around 130 postal workers from Liverpool attended a meeting on Sunday of last week to discuss the future of the city’s Copperas Hill mail centre.
Royal Mail bosses have announced that they plan to close the centre, which
is based in the centre of the city, and relocate to another site.
Workers at the meeting passed a motion demanding that any new site is located within the city’s L postcode, and to “oppose by any necessary means” attempts to move the centre without agreement with the union.
The meeting is likely to be the first of many.
The latest edition of Post Worker, the rank and file paper for postal workers, has just come off the presses, and features the fight over pensions.
