Campaigners for the NHS in Oxfordshire were celebrating this week after winning their campaign to save maternity services at the Horton hospital in Banbury.

According to Mark Ladbrooke, branch secretary of the Oxfordshire health Unison union, the campaign won because it built links between health unions, councillors, MPs, faith communities and user groups.

Security guards and parking officials at two major hospitals in the Midlands are threatening to strike over pay.

The workers, who have been subcontracted to the First Management Group, are members of the Unison union and are based at the Heartlands hospital in Bordesley Green and the Solihull hospital.

Management has not delivered NHS terms and conditions promised under the Agenda for Change agreement.
