The UCU lecturers’ union has organised a tour of Palestinian academics, who will be visiting towns across Britain from this Sunday.
The tour by will take place between 20 and 30 April.
There will be 18 meetings at campuses from Glasgow to Bristol – the first opportunity for most UCU members to hear from Palestinian colleagues.
They will discuss military occupation and how universities and colleges operate under threat of closure, curfew, arbitrary arrest and army intervention on campus.
This is the outcome of a resolution passed overwhelmingly at UCU conference last year.
It is a rare opportunity for Palestinian academics to travel beyond the Occupied Territories, where they are confined by roadblocks and closures, and are often unable even to move between campuses.
