Wybone workers bin their bosses
Some 26 workers at the Wybone bin factory in Barnsley have begun striking on Fridays over pay.
The workers, members of the Community union, want a 4 percent wage increase.
Management has imposed a 3 percent rise with a new bonus scheme that excludes temporary workers.
One of the strikers said, “The company is boasting that it made £6.2 million last year and hopes to make £6.5 million this year.
“But they won’t give us a pay increase that keeps up with inflation.”
There was a lively picket line during the strike on Friday of last week and the workers are set to strike for the next three Fridays.

Lambeth Unison won’t be gagged
Members of the Unison union working for Lambeth council in south London are angry after the Labour-led administration refused the union a stall at this week’s conference for staff in the housing and regeneration department.
This is contrary to all previous practice within the council.
Heenal Rajani, Unison’s convenor in the department, said, “The council is scared of Unison members hearing the truth about its proposals to privatise council housing services in the borough.
“But we will not be silenced – we will be demonstrating outside the staff conference on both the days it is taking place.”
Bosses ignore own report into Yunus Bakhsh
Health workers were angry this week as it emerged that Yunus Bakhsh has been called to a disciplinary hearing by his employers despite being signed off sick.
Yunus has been suspended from work since September 2006 and is currently taking the Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Trust to an employment tribunal, alleging that he is being victimised for his trade union activities.
As a result of his prolonged suspension Yunus’s mental health has suffered – a fact verified by both his GP and his employer’s occupational health department.
Despite this the trust has decided to push ahead with a disciplinary hearing on Monday of next week.
This is completely unprecedented and may be a breach of the 1974 Health and Safety at Work Act.
Campaigners are now wondering, what those seeking help from the trust think when they discover that it is prepared to ignore medical advice when it comes to one of its own members of staff.
