Harrogate bus drivers vote for strike

Issue No. 2102

Bus drivers in the Unite union at Transdev Harrogate and District have voted in favour of strike action over a new driving schedule and rota system.

Some 100 out of 109 drivers at the company voted for strikes in a consultative ballot last week over the changes that were imposed at the end of April.

One driver told the Harrogate Advertiser, “Bus users will be surprised to learn that their driver could have had very little rest between finishing one day and starting the next.

“We are not prepared to accept this. We are prepared to take industrial action.”
